Brown Coffee’s first flagship roastery store is a multi-storey cafe located in Phnom Penh’s busiest district, Boeung Keng Kang (BKK1). High ceilings and plentiful windows bring in a rush of natural light, connecting the outdoor patio with the interior. Antique furnishings and the extensive use of steel lend to a vintage industrial character. Materials from other commercial projects were reimagined, such as the railings on the second storey, which are made from repurposed folding gates. Other furnishings bring a sense of Cambodia into the space, like an antique rickshaw-turned-retail display and traditional floral tiles. The most significant feature is the glass-walled roasting space, which invites the customer into the coffee roasting process as they enjoy their food and drink.
