This three-storey private dwelling is located in the up-and-coming Toul Kork district of Phnom Penh. The client’s love of nature is interpreted into design, with trees planted on each level of the exterior, creating shade and privacy within the home. The outdoor landscape design brings old-growth richness not familiar in this high-end residential neighbourhood. In the interior of the home, large windows on both levels let in warm natural light. A visual calm is portrayed by the elegant, subdued palette and balance between soft edges and crisp lines. Custom tilework, sculptural moldings, and unique light fixtures add to the sophisticated spirit of the design. The feature of the space is a cast iron spiraling staircase, which grounds the lightness of the living space and fuses the classic and modern design.
